Visit to the shed

Following a visit to the shed by a group from Fairdinkum Sheds and Marty Leist from the Australian Men’s Sheds Association (AMSA) we received this feedback:

A big thanks to the fellas at The Entrance Men’s Shed Incorporated for welcoming us to their shed yesterday.

We enjoyed a fantastic chat about some of their woodworking projects and what they’ve gotten out of being part of the Men’s Shed movement. Their workshop invites all men to come and share skills and stories while developing friendships as they work together on projects that benefit themselves and the community.

They meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday (9am-2pm) and are located at 15 Battley Ave, The Entrance. They also take on repairs and small commission projects if you have furniture restorations or woodworking projects you’d like to discuss – Phone 4332 1023.

Grant McBride memory walk

On the 8th of September 2018 shed members hosted a sausage sizzle for the Grant McBride Memory Walk. Money raised is used by Dementia Australia for research and advocacy into dementia.

The walk was instigated by Federal Member for Dobell, Emma McBride, in honour of her late father Grant McBride.

Sydney Harbour cruise

On the 29th of November 2013 shed members and their partners spent an enjoyable day traveling to Sydney by train, followed by a two-hour Sydney Harbour cruise aboard the Captain Cook Sydney 2000.

Both Sydney Transport and the cruise ship staff were very accommodating and this helped to ensure that everybody had a great day. The weather was a bit bleak but this didn’t dampen the attendees spirits.

Bin hoppers for The Entrance

Shed members Bruce and Rob have created a set of seven timber bin hoppers for The Entrance Town Centre Management. The hoppers are being placed at Memorial Park and The Boardwalk alongside the The Entrance channel.

Happy 70’th to shed member Geoff

Shed member Geoff arrived at the shed this morning (2nd October 2013) to be greeted by Shannon Maclean from MAJARRA mobile massage. Since it was Geoff’s 70th birthday he was first in line for a massage.

Shannon is volunteering her services to The Entrance Men’s Shed one morning per month for neck and shoulder massages–a gesture that is warmly appreciated by all shed members.

We’d also like to thank shed member Michael’s partner (Doreen) for making a terrific birthday cake for Geoff.

Sausage sizzle time

Members of The Entrance Men’s Shed were called upon at the last minute to run a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Tuggerah on Thursday night the 29th of August. This was part of Bunnings Father’s Day promotions. We later received this feedback from Bunnings:

Following a successful evening, shed members backed up the following day for the regular monthly shed sausage sizzle. These stalls are an important fund raising opportunity for the shed.
